PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a disposal amount in all cartridges by evenly consuming toners or inks of various colors particularly in a color printing apparatus using unitary-type cartridges which receive toners or inks of various colors. SOLUTION: In a color printing method and a color printing apparatus using cartridges 106 which integrally receive toners or inks of different colors, a trial printing setting means sets on the basis of color printing data fed from a host side whether or not 'trial printing' should be carried out. When 'trial printing' is set by the trial printing setting means, residual amounts of toners or inks are individually detected by a residual amount detecting means 107, a use ratio deciding means 108 decides ratios of use of toners or inks being used, on the basis of a result of the detection, and a color map 105 is changed by color map changing means 109 on the basis of ratios of use decided by the use ratio deciding means 108. |
