In a method of moulding cellular articles, plastics particles are intermittently fed from a dosing device to a heating chamber wherein they are heated to above the softening point, the particles then being compressed to the shape of the article in the heating chamber or in a moulding chamber to which they are fed. In one example, Fig. 2, the particles are fed from a dosing device 2 to a heating chamber 1 connected by a valve 4 to a hot air or steam pipe 7 and a compression moulding chamber 5 which receives a piston 8. In another example, Fig. 3, a series of chambers in each of which heating and compression is effected are fed through feeding, heating, cooling and ejecting stations 1a, 1b 1c, 1d-1l and 1m. |
