PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily and surely execute rolling by arranging a guide changing mechanism, guide opening/closing mechanism and guide laternal deviation prevention device of guide devices of an universal rolling mill. SOLUTION: A guide laternal deviation preventing devices 36 is arranged to a guide holder 4 integrated with a pair of upper/lower guides 6, 7 in which guide faces 6a, 7a are arranged facing each other at the center of pass guide line A. A guide changing mechanism to make the guide holder 4 and upper/ lower guides 6, 7 retreat is arranged to a guide mounting frame 12. A guide opening/closing mechanism is arranged to the guide holder 4, the angles to the pass line A of the guide faces 6a, 7a of upper/lower guides are made variable. By this method, when rolling rolls 2, 3 are put in/out, quick retrating of guides is made possible without using a crane, further, because the guides are arbitrarily opened/closed for incoming of rolling stock and laternal deviation of guides is prevented, a rolling stock is surely guided into rolling rolls 2, 3 without causing misrolling. |
