A device incorporates a reservoir for adhesive, laterally limited by two side walls (5, 6). It is adjustable in width by the changing of the sub-parts which connect the side walls to one another. Devices are also provided for adjusting the thickness of the layer of the adhesive to be applied. The changeable sub-parts are two stationary cross walls (12, 13) limiting the reservoir in a longitudinal direction. The layer thickness adjustment device comprises an applicator blade (3) in the form of a vertical plate fixed to one of the side walls (12) of which it forms part, of which the edge facing the structural component is matched to the component surface to be coated.
