摘要 The antenna (10) includes a number of transmitting linear elements (22a-22d) arranged parallel to one another and a number of receiving linear elements (24a-24d) also arranged parallel to one another. Individual transmitting elements are spaced apart from one another and have a receiving element disposed in between. The width of each transmitting and receiving element varies periodically along its length, periodically modulating the impedance of each element. The narrowest width portion of each transmitting element is disposed adjacent to a widest width portion of an adjacent receiving linear element, and vice versa, thereby minimizing coupling between the elements. Transmission amplifiers (16a, 16b) and receiving amplifiers (30a, 30b) are located at opposite ends of an antenna stalk body (36) such that each of the amplifiers is closely associated with its respective antenna element, further minimizing losses. The transmission amplifiers are constructed so as to be thermally isolated from the receiving amplifiers, and are preferably located at the end of the antenna stalk that is nearest to the transceiver, thereby providing improved heat sinking.
