PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend the service life of a molten iron and slag tapping runner refractory of a blast furnace. SOLUTION: In the cross sectional surface of the molten iron and slag tapping runner of the blast furnace, the flowing part 5 of molten iron at lower part from a slag-metal interface 4 at the time of tapping molten iron is narrower than the width in the part of the slag-metal interface 4 and is formed as a step state, and the inside angleαin the runner between the side wall surface at the narrow width part and the bottom surface is made to 60 deg.<=α<=100 deg. and the angleβbetween the upper surface of the step and the horizontal line is made to -30 deg.<=β<=10 deg..
