The machine includes one or more windings with one or more insulated current carrying conductor (4). A first layer with semiconducting properties is provided around the conductor, with a solid insulating layer (7) around that first layer. Around the insulating layer is a second layer with semiconducting properties (8). A grounding facility is provided to connect one point of the winding to ground. The potential of the first layer is equal to the conductor's potential, and the second layer constitutes an equipotential surface surrounding the conductor. The second layer is connected to a predetermined potential, ground potential. |
