Apparatus and method for cladding a substrate (7) is provided. The method comprises the delivery cladding powder (10) to a surface of the substrate (7) whereupon it is fused using a pulsed laser source (2, 3), and controlling (6, 9) the supply of the powder (10) and a shielding gas (13) to permit latency of the powder (10) upon the substrate (7) such that a substantial proportion of powder (10) delivered to the substrate (7) is fused thereto. |
