The material is defined as a porridge like mixture of pure sepiolite, sand and water in the ideal ratio, by weight of 2 to 1 to 2. The water and the sand are taken from the natural environment of the worms to be conserved, for example sea water and sea sand for marine worms. Sepiolite is a natural silicate of magnesium, which absorbs water and forms a linked flexible mixture, without cutting edges or sharp corners and hard bits. The sand is added to hold the mixture together and to give a firmer consistency. Other mineral or organic additives may be added as required.
|
