The steering comprises a rack (3) inside the steering box (1). The rack comprises a part (4) with teeth (5) which mesh with a pinion (2) and a part (6) forming a power steering actuator rod. The rod has an annular piston (7) sliding in a cylinder (8) in the steering box. The rack has at its two ends axial ball and socket joint casings (14,15) through which are pivoted respective steering links (16,17. Bellows (20,21) at the steering box ends cover the ball joints. Air communication is provided between the right (20) and left (21) bellows through an axial drilling (24) in the rack and through holes drilled in the ball joints. These holes comprise an axial channel (30) drilled in the ball joint casing threaded part which extends the rack axial drilling, and a radial or inclined channel (31). The radial channel extends the axial channel and issues in the ball joint casing periphery and forms a transition between the ball joint casing threaded and annular (26) parts.
