Top clamp for fastening a line to an insulator fitting 7, such that it comprises a pressing piece 1 which can be fastened to the insulator fitting 7, which has an element 9 to receive the line, a clamping piece 2 which is adjusted to tightly clamp the line against the element 9 on the pressing piece by means of a U-shaped curved piece 3 which can be firmly tightened on the pressing piece 1 with a nut 10 on the leg of the curved piece when the curved piece 3 is placed on one side of the line 4 and the clamping piece 2 extends laterally out from the curved piece, so that the line can be introduced into and out in sideways direction between the clamping piece 2 and the pressing piece 1. <IMAGE>
