The device applies earthing to multiple sections (2,3) of cable tray joined (4) together to form a long run. At least some of the sections carry an earthing connector (10), to which an earthing cable can be connected. Each section of cable tray has a longitudinal bar (8,9) set in the bottom of the section and having sufficient transverse section to carry a fault current. At the junction of the tray sections, a conductive braid (13) is attached to the longitudinal bars in the bottom of the tray section. The longitudinal bars are also connected to the earth connection points, which are placed under the bottom of the tray with the connection to one side.
