<p>Applicant's battery cable clamp (10) replaces the standard bolt and nut which pass through the ends of the clamp and are tightened to secure the clamp about the battery post (12) with a bolt (24) and attached handle (50), the connection between the bolt head (32) and attached handle (50) including a boss (60) or camming structure (60) which will increase or decrease the clamping pressure of the bolt based on a small rotation of the handle (50). A lever (62) is fitted over the bolt (24) and positioned between the two legs (18, 18') of the battery cable clamp so that if the battery cable clamp (10) remains corroded to the battery post (12), the handle (50) can be swung to the opposite side of the bolt (24) and a pull (64) looped over the lever (62) and the handle (50) then used to apply pressure through the pull (64) against the lever (62) to create a wedging force between the two legs (18, 18') of the battery cable clamp (10) in order to separate and spread the battery cable clamp (10) and loosen it from the battery post (12).</p> |
