The shank (2) of the holder (1) has a slot (8) near to the end holding the cutting element (4). It is orientated at right-angles to the longitudinal length of the shaft and parallel to the rotational axis of the workpiece (6) for machining. The slot runs through the whole width of the shank and on its longitudinal ends terminates open and flush with the side faces of the shank. An elastomer spring-elastic filling piece (9) is fitted in the slot and lies flush with the sides and slot mouth or lies behind them.
