The drying chamber is esp. suitable for vacuum drying and comprises a casing (3) and tray unit (5) which remains within, at least for the drying process. The tray unit has a number of holders (7), each supporting one tray (9). The improvement is that tray holders may be swung about a vertical axis. Pref. one or more groups of holders may be swung about a common axis. Two groups of holders may be swung about separate axes, disposed such that they intermesh when swung together into the operational state. The spacing is maintained when the trays are swung out.
