The coupling has a vertical housing (2) secured to a cross member (1) at the rear of the vehicle, receiving the end (3) of a tow bar provided with a spherical head inserted from below. An electric motor operating system, with electric motor (4) and a spindle drive, allows the tow-bar end to be pivoted through 90 degrees for securing it to the vertical housing, or releasing it from the latter.
