<p>The present invention relates to a method for decontaminating biotopes from mercury and/or other heavy metals. For obtaining a biologically controlled decontamination at exactly those locations in the biotope where the mercury and/or other heavy metals are present, glass enriched with selenium is added or supplied to the biotope, the selenium is set free from the glass by means of micro-organisms in the biotope and the selenium set free from the glass by the microorganisms is bonded to or combined with mercury and/or other heavy metals for forming mercury selenide and/or other heavy metal selenides.</p> |
