The drive has a toothed or flat drive belt (4) which engages a profiled take off surface attached to the rail (3) to move the wagon. The plane (4') of the belt is at an angle of between 60[deg] and 90[deg] to the vertical. The take off surface of the rail has projections above and below the belt contact with the rail. The axis of rotation (4",5') of the belt and motor (5) is at an angle beta to the vertical. The reaction forces in response to the rotation of the drive motor are at a angle almost parallel to the vertical. The projections support and protect the belt.
