The invention relates to a nematic liquid crystal composition which exhibits a resistivity of at least 1 x 10<11> OMEGA cm which contains 1 to 10,000 ppm of a crown ether and to a method of improving the electrostic behavior of a liquid crystal display device with the aid of such a composition.
