The steel door comprises two cover sheets (2,3) which form the door leaf case. The U-shaped angled edge strip of the first cover sheet encircles and clamps the Z-shaped edge strip of a second. A reinforcement section (10,10',10'') is arranged in the door leaf case along a lock side of the inner contour of the Z-shaped edge strip. The reinforcement section has an angled shank which is clamped together with the shank of the second cover sheet of the U-shaped edge strip. A Z-shaped shank (13) extends over the inner side of an area of the second cover sheet. The reinforcement section (10'') has two Z-shaped sections which mirror each other. The reinforcement section, with a U-shaped support section, is connected to the lock casing.
