In addition to the flag (4) holder, the pole comprises at least an air feed in the region of the flag rated position (5), to which is attached a system generating an air stream. The air feed may be a flexible external line. The line may form a part of the holder such that the flag is secured to the line. Typically the pole is a tube (2) which also forms the air feed, or houses the latter, with the tube containing outlet ports in the region of the flag rated position.
