The protection comprises a steel cable (11) permanently fixed to a lock housing (10) via a lock cylinder. A bolt can be inserted into a counterpiece (9) groove on the equipment (2) when a key is turned. The cable has a loop (12) at its far end. The counterpiece is preferably a bolt protruding from an equipments face. An annular groove is spaced from its free end. This is inserted into the lock housing parallel to the cylinder.
