PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life magnet roll which prevents carrier adhesion and has good transportability of a developer and high wear resistance. SOLUTION: This magnet roll is constituted by coaxially and relatively freely rotatably mounting a sleeve 6 formed into a hollow cylindrical shape on the outside of a permanent magnet member 1 provided with plural pieces of axially extending magnetic poles on its outer cirsumferetial surface. This sleeve 6 is formed out of a metallic material having nonmagnetic electrical conductivity and the surface of the sleeve is covered by a thermally sprayed coating layer consisting of a martensitic stainless steel. This thermally sprayed layer is formed to have a thickness of 10 to 100μm, surface roughness (Rz) of 30 to 100μm and hardness of Hv<=400. |
