PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress slag infiltration and to improve spalling resistance property without deteriorating corrosion resistance by containing a synthetic CaO- TiO2 and a magnesia raw material excellent in corrosion resistance as a main component in a prescribed blending ratio to eliminate the producing, storing and using problems. SOLUTION: This basic refractory composition contains 0.1-30wt.% synthetic CaO-TiO2 (A) and 70-99.9wt.% magnesia raw material (B). The raw material (A) consists essentially of two components of CaO and TiO2 , is 0.8-1.5 in the molar ratio of CaO/TiO2 and composed of one or more kinds of CaO-TiO2 based compounds. The content of the raw material (A) should be >=90wt.% in total of CaO and TiO2 . A magnesia clinker or an electromelting magnesia produced by various methods can be used as the raw material (B) and the content of the MgO component is preferably >=90wt.%. The other refractories such as a magnesia.alumina based spinel can be used to control properties such as porosity, pore diameter or strength. |
