PRODUCTION OF JOINED MICROGEL PARTICLES AND ARTICLE TREATED THEREWITH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain joined microgel particles by dispersing specified microgel particles in a matrix component, infiltrating a monomer into these microgel particles and polymerizing the monomer. SOLUTION: These joined microgel particles are prepared by dispersing microgel particles having a particle diameter of 100-0.01μm and the standard deviation of a particle size distribution equal to or smaller than 100% of the mean particle diameter in a matrix component, infiltrating a monomer into each particle and polymerizing the monomer to join the microgel particles. The microgel particles are desirably ones formed by copolymerizing 100 pts.wt. noncrosslinking monomer with 5-2,000 pts.wt. crosslinking monomer. The monomer which is infiltrated into the microgel particles desirably contains at least 10wt.% monomer which is the same as the monomer constituting the particles.
