PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a high-quality image by highly electrifying developer to be compatible with the restriction of ghost caused thereby while effectively avoiding the damage of a developer carrier and the deterioration of the developer. SOLUTION: In this developing device which is provided with the developer carrier 2 in a developing housing and where an auxiliary developer carrier 4 is disposed on the downstream side of the carrier 2 in the moving direction of a latent image carrier 1 ; at least the developer by an amount equivalent to one rotation of the carrier 2 is transferred to the carrier 1 side in a dummy image forming stage other than an ordinary image forming stage, and the transferred developer is transferred to the carrier 4 side in a non-contact state and recovered to the carrier 2 side in the non-contact state. Or at least the developer by the amount equivalent to one rotation of the carrier 2 is transferred to the carrier 4 in the non-contact state and recovered to the carrier 2 side in the non-contact state. Furthermore, the dummy image forming stage is executed only under high humidity environment according to humidity information from a humidity detection means 11 as necessary. |
