PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such an optical fiber that avoids disadvantages of a conventional optical fiber, uses a sheath material showing a good balance in the required physical properties such as high mechanical strength, low refractive index and excellent transparency, and has enough heat resistance. SOLUTION: This optical fiber composite body is produced by forming an optical fiber comprising (A) a methylmethacrylate polymer as the core material and (B) a sheath, and coating the optical fiber with (C) a plastic coating film. As for the sheath material (B), such a copolymer is used that consists of (1) 3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,9,9,10,10,10-heptadecafluoro-n-decylmethacrylate by >=40wt.% to <=70wt.%, (2) short-chain fluoroalkyl methacrylate expressed by formula (wherein X is a hydrogen atom or a fluorine atom and n is an integer 1 to 4) by >=20wt.% to <=50wt.%, and (3) methyl methacrylate by >=5wt.% to <20wt.%. |
