<p>Furnace with transverse burners comprises a hearth (2), an arched roof (4), some lateral walls (3) connecting the roof (4) to the hearth (2), some burners (5) fed with fuel and a combustive gas, provided in the lateral walls and oriented transversely to the hearth (2). The furnace is not provided with regenerators; it incorporates a system (8,9,10,11,12) that allows regulation of the different and complementary values of the flame length issuing from the burners sited on one side of the hearth and the flames issuing from the burners sited on the other side of the hearth, and the inversion of the operating regime of these burners; the burners are fed with a combustive gas contg. at least 90 vol % of oxygen. The method of operating this furnace is also claimed and involves the inversion of the burner operating regime every 10 to 15 minutes.</p> |
