In an installation for assembling mattresses sheet padding material is conveyed from rolls (1,2) onto a table (3) with distributed apertures (4) there through which adhesive issues to form stripes of adhesive on the padding material. The padding material is simultaneously out off and provided with transverse stripes of adhesive and is laid over a mattress cover having stripes of adhesive on its upper surface. A robot (12) applies a spring frame to the padding material and jaws (19) fold up edges of the padding materials onto the spring frame to be secured by the adhesive. The robot (12) then raises and invenrts the spring frame with the padding and mattress cover on one thereof and re-applies it to the folding unit (11) after a further mattress cover and further padding material, glued together, have been located thereon. The jaws (19) then fold and secure the edges of the further mattress cover and padding material to the spring frame. |
