The prosthesis has an L-shaped piece (1) which is fixed to the femur (2). Its surface (3) is condylar and turns on the axis (4) of the knee. A plate (5) is fixed to the tibia (6) and has a flat upper surface (7). A slide (8) is interposed between this surface and the condylar surface of the femoral piece. The slide slides on the surfaces and is guided by two projecting parts on the upper surface of the slide. These engage in two lateral longitudinal grooves (15) in the femoral piece. Their cross section is complementary to the shape of the projections.
