<p>The management procedure commences with an identification transaction between the electronic circuit (1) on the smart card and the computer (8) inside the reader. The read head used to connect to the card is fitted in a receptacle (4) that receives the card. The transaction between the card and the reader is then completed to implement the function required by the user. The integrated circuit has a non-volatile SRAM memory of 4 kbit, divided into 16 zones of 256 bits each. A 64 bit ROM contains a unique serial number for the card. The circuit also includes a real-time clock. During processing there are two connection circuits provided: one to the card and one to the reader computer. The card receiver has a tapered head with a slot for the card. Contacts are provided at the bottom of the slot.</p> |
