The aim of the invention is to provide an effective and inexpensive system for boosting brake pedal force in a slip-regulated hydraulic brake system which operates according to the re-circulation principle and is provided with a high-pressure accumulator to effect rapid pressure build-up during power braking. To that end it is proposed that a common high-pressure accumulator (22) should be used for both the power pressure build-up in the brake circuits (I, II) and for supplying a hydraulic servo unit (20). In order to ensure that the high-pressure accumulator (22) is kept sufficiently full, it is provided with a path switch (23) which triggers a charge pump (24) as soon as the accumulator level falls below a minimum threshold.
