The actuation mechanism comprises at least one piston (16) located radially between the skirt (2) and guide sleeve (6) and which moves in at least one direction of movement by hydraulic pressure medium. The piston serves as a pivot drive for a sleeve (18) which is rotatable around the tappet axis. A spring-influenced pressure piston (8) is installed in the guide sleeve and can move axially relative to the skirt base (4). The pressure piston communicates, at least indirectly, on its end facing away from the base with the engine's gas valve.
