The braking system has a brake pedal mechanism with a lever section (12) with first and second end parts. A pedal (14) is provided at the first end and the lever section is pivotably supported at a swivel point (16) between the first and second ends. A swivel connection element (24) has first and second end sections whereby the second end section is joined to a pressure rod. The connection element is pivotably supported at a swivel point between the first and second ends. A connecting device (20) joins the brake pedal lever to the swivel connection element.
