The portable computer data processing system has different components (K1,..Kn), each provided with a directly associated protection device (AF1,...AFn) for controlling the access to the component. The data processing system is only activated when the protection devices separately identify an authorised user. Pref. each component of the data processing system is also associated with a respective energy-saving device (SF1,...SFn), coupled to the protection device, so that the current for the component is only switched in upon identification of an authorised user.
