COLLOIDALE DISPERSION AND REDISPERSIBLE COMPOSITION IN THE FORM OF A CERIUM OXIDE BASED COLLOIDAL DISPERSION

The invention relates to a colloidal dispersion, characterized in that it comprises a cerium oxide and at least one additive selected amongst beta dicetones, the carboxylic monoacides comprising an alpha or beta hydroxy function and the diols. It also relates to a redispersible composition in the form of a cerium oxide based colloidal dispersion and the same said additives. The colloidal dispersion of the invention may be obtained by a process which is characterized in that at least one above mentioned additive is added to a starting cerium oxide colloidal dispersion. Finally, the invention relates to the use of a dispersion of the above type or of the type obtained by redispersing a redispersible composition, on a substrate as anticorrosion agent, in a cosmetic composition, for catalytic purposes particularly in motor vehicule post combustion, for lubrication or in ceramics.
