The board is first cut-up into small sections (11) which are subjected to a compression force e.g. between rollers (3,4) so that the plaster is crushed and the density of the board is increased. The board is further cut-up or torn up. Plaster and pieces of board are fed to a vibrating sieve. The plaster is collected in a container (6) which has an outlet for pieces of board.
