Proportional pilot controlled fluid pressure reducing valve

The pressure reducing valve has a pilot control input stage (1) with a proportional solenoid (2) as well as a main valve (4). Ports are provided for supply of the fluid (P) and the delivery (A) to a load. A further port (T) connects with the supply tank. The main valve spool (4) is biased to the closed position by the spring. The outlet port has a connection (7) via an orifice (8) to the spring chamber such that the spool is also subjected to outlet pressure. This causes the valve to respond to an increase in outlet pressure to effect a reduction.
