An apparatus for immobilising a utility vehicle relative to a transshipment facility, comprising means (3) for immobilising at least one wheel (49) of the vehicle. The apparatus is characterised in that said immobilising means comprise a longitudinal rail secured to the ground, an element (10) that is movable inside the rail (7) and supports a locking bar (21) capable of withstanding a force comprising a vertical and/or a horizontal component and exerted by said wheel (49), and means secured to the movable element (10) for converting the horizontal and/or vertical component of said force into a wedging force that wedges said movable element (10) in the rail (7).
