An option device area is provided for every partition so that loading/unloading can be performed in the areas. Data in required access positions are accessible based on unloading position information which is stored in the volume information of an MIC after the loading is effected in one of the option device areas and an area ID recorded on a magnetic tape. System log information is written in/read from the MIC, so that the time and number of actions required to perform an access are reduced.
