Leakage detecting and locating sensor for high voltage cable

The sensor includes a conductive lead made of two electrical conductors. The conductors are made of the same, highly conductive material, e.g. copper. One of them has a layer of metal, e.g. zinc or aluminium, which is up to 100 microns thick. The coating layer has a large electrochemical voltage gap w.r.t. the conductor which forms a galvanic element. The insulation of the cable is reduced when water enters.
