Method for making reinforcement for a composite material part made from the reinforcement core in a curved matrix. The reinforcement consisting of superimposed layers of parallel strands each at right angles to the next and all sewn together. Before laying down the strands a mathematical model of the reinforcement (A) is created and held in memory and for each layer, from the model, a further model is created and controls a positioning system (3) to move a tool (1) to deposit and or fix the strands (F). Also claimed is the reinforcement formed and the finished composite using it.
