A ground water well filter assembly incorporates a radioactive source. The novelty is that the radioactive source (1) is located within a pipe system consisting of an outer protective sheath (2) surrounding a watertight probe pipe (3) around a perforated source (1) tube (4). The upper part of the probe (5) pipe system is closed at the head of the well by a safety valve (7) and an upper section (5) with an aerosol filter (6).
