There are disclosed novel ether compounds of the general formula: <CHEM> wherein R<1> is halogen; A is a group of the general formula Q-1: -CH(R<2>)-(CH2)m-CH-(R<3>)-N(R<4>)-C(=Y)-X-R<5>, or the like; E is a group of the general formula: <CHEM> and l is an integer of 0 to 2; harmful-organism controlling agents containing them as active ingredients, and intermediates for use in their production.
