In a torque-limiting slipping coupling between a drive element 21, such as a sprocket, and a hub 19, the element 21 is gripped between friction surfaced plates 12, 13, the plate 12 being fast on the hub and the plate 13 being axially slidable and loaded by a spring washer 14 reacting on a nut 16 threaded on the hub, and a look-washer 15 rotatable with but axially slidable on the hub has a spigot 28 to centre the spring washer and portions adapted to be bent over the nut flats to lock the nut against rotation. The plate 13 and lock-washer have bore flats engaging hub flats 19. The lock-washer 15 may have a circumferentially solid periphery or, preferably, have an even or preferably odd number of tabs 30. |
