PURPOSE:To provide good superconductivity by combining Cu alloy containing group IIIa elements on the Periodic Table with Cu alloy containing the group IIa elements, subjecting the result to dia. shrinking process to turn into a wire, oxidizing it, forming an oxide film on the surface, and forming thereover a layer of material containing specific compounds followed by heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:Existing invention applied to a method of manufacturing superconductive wire containing group IIIa elements on the Periodic Table such as Y, La, Ce, Yb, Sc, Er and group IIa elements such as Ba, Sr. To make a wire of Y-Ba-Cu-O type, a columnar base 2 of Ni is fitted in the center of a cylindrical tubing 1 of Cu-Y alloy containing 5-20wt.% Y, and this composite is dia. reduced by drawing etc., to form a round wire 3, which is turned into a rectangular wire 4. The Cu alloy part 4b of this wire is oxidated, and on the film 4c a layer 4d is formed by means of coating etc., with material 4d containing powder of Ba compound, followed by heat treatment in oxygen gas at 600-1000 deg.C, and thus a superconductive wire 6 with rectangular profile is obtained, wherein different elements are well diffused. |
