Peptides of the formula <FORM:1046303/C2/1> wherein X is H or an acyl residue derived from an a -amino acid or a polypeptide containing from 2 to 6 such amino acids and Y is an ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, allyl, butyl, isobutyl or benzyl group, protected derivatives thereof having the amino and carboxyl groups not involved in the formation of peptide linkages blocked by protecting groups capable of being removed by acidolysis or hydrogenolysis, and non-toxic pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof, are prepared by methods in themselves known in the peptide art. The following intermediates were prepared:- H - Leu - (S - Et) - Homocys - NH2 and its BOC - derivative; BOC - Ala - Phe - Ileu-GlyOH and its ethyl ester; BOC - Ileu - Gly- OEt; BOC - Phe - Ileu - Gly - OEt; H - (S - Pr)- Homocys - OMe; H - (S - Pr) - Homocys - NH2; BOC - Leu - (S - Pr) - Homocys - NH2; H - Leu-(S - Pr) - Homocys - NH2;H - (S - Bz) - Homocys-OMe; H - (S - Bz) - Homocys - NH2; BOC - Leu-(S - Bz) - Homocys - NH2; and H - Leu - (S-Bz) -Homocys-NH2. Pharmaceutical compositions which contain compounds of the above general formula are anti-hypertensive agents. The agents may be administered parenterally. |
