PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a shift positioning mechanism from being defectively operated by vertically erecting the crankshaft of an engine, disposing the shift positioning mechanism at the lower surface of a web housing part for a crankcase housing the crank web of the lowermost cylinder, and concurrently, disposing the positioning operating part for a operating lever below the aforesaid shift positioning mechanism. SOLUTION: An engine 8 has its crankshaft 500 vertically erected, and concurrently, has a shift positioning mechanism 70 disposed, which is made up of a holder, a spring, and of a ball 73 and the like, at the lower surface of a web housing part 30 for a crankcase 30 housing the crank web of the lowermost cylinder 10. And since a positioning operating part for an operating lever 55 is positioned below the shift positioning mechanism 70, the positioning operating part is thereby covered by the crankcase 30. Moreover, the holder of the shift positioning mechanism 70 is mounted on the lower part of the crankcase 30, and has the ball 73 acting as an engaging element mounted thereon via the spring. And the ball 73 is set by the pressing to the positioning operating part of the operating lever 55 composed of holes for forward, reverse and neutral. |
