PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a restoration device of fractal picture compression data, which can reduce the deterioration of picture quality, by executing an appropriate processing corresponding to the area discrimination result of a range block at the time of restoring a picture. SOLUTION: The restoration device for fractal picture compression data is provided with a picture memory 41 storing the restored picture, a reduction/ rotation conversion circuit 44 which takes out picture data of a variable area block corresponding to the range block from the picture memory 41 and executes a conversion processing based on a conversion parameter and an area discrimination circuit 45 discriminating an area based on the size of the range block are provided. Furthermore, an edge reproduction processing circuit 46 executing an edge reproduction processing on picture data which is conversion-processed, a smoothing processing circuit 47 executing a smoothing processing and a selection circuit 48 selecting the output of the edge reproduction processing or the smoothing processing in accordance with the result of area discrimination are provided. |
