<p>PURPOSE: To effectively execute desulfurization reaction of molten iron by blowing a powdery desulfurizing agent by a carrier gas contg. oxygen into the molten iron and blowing a reducing gas into the molten iron at the time of the desulfurization treatment of the molten iron. CONSTITUTION: The high temp. of the reaction system, the low oxygen potential and the basicity of molten slag are the requirements as the desulfurization conditions for the molten iron and, therefore, the powdery desulfurizing agent consisting essentially of CaO is blown as the gaseous oxygen or N2 contg. oxygen, etc., as a carrier gas into the molten iron. The fall of the temp. of the molten iron by the exothermic reaction of the Si and C in the molten iron with the oxygen is prevented. The reducing gas consisting essentially of gaseous hydrogen and contg. Co, CH4 , N2 , etc., is blown into the molten slag or the boundary of the molten iron and the molten slag, thereby the desulfurizing atmosphere is made to a reducing atmosphere to decrease the total content of the FeO and Fe2 O3 in the molten slag to >=5wt.%, by which the desulfurization treatment is effectively executed without lowering the temp. of the molten iron and the temp. deficiency of the molten iron at the time of the decarburization steel making and refining in the next converter is prevented.</p> |
